We have taken special precautions to ensure the health and safety of patients and staff. We ask that only persons with appointments enter the office since there will be reduced seating to ensure social distancing. If you are experiencing flu or cold symptoms, we ask that you schedule/reschedule your appointment after symptoms have resolved. Based on CDC and state health rules, we no longer require indoor mask wearing for patients. However, mask wearing is still recommended for the elderly and those at risk for severe COVID symptoms. Hand sanitizer is available and it is highly recommended that you use it upon entry and before you leave the office. You will notice changes in the office that are based on CDC, OSHA and Hawaii Department of Health recommendations to keep us all safe. We have implemented the following additional safety precautions to ensure your health and safety.

  • Limiting entry into the office to only patients with appointments.

  • No entry into the office for people with cold/flu symptoms.

  • Social distancing through reduced, limited seating in the waiting room.

  • Recommend use of provided hand sanitizer for everyone entering or exiting the office.

  • Inquire about each patient’s current health.

  • Take the temperature of each patient entering the office.

  • Use of HEPA air filters throughout the office to filter virus, bacteria and allergens from the air.

  • We implemented hypochlorous acid (HOCl) disinfection of patient treatment areas. Hypochlorous acid is a non-toxic, environmentally safe disinfectant that has been in use for more than 100 years and is 100 times more effective at killing pathogenic viruses, bacteria and mold as household bleach. It is FDA and EPA approved as a high level (hospital grade) disinfectant. We make HOCl in-house using an Ecolox generator. For more information on HOCl, click on the link button below.


  • A device called Isodry is used during certain procedures to minimize aerosolized spray.

  • Our personal protective equipment (PPE) has been modified to include full length disposable gowns, N95 masks, and full coverage face shields. This provides protection for both dental staff and patients by blocking any potential of disease transmission in either direction.

  • As usual, we steam sterilize all reusable equipment in the autoclave and use disposable, single-use equipment where possible. Disposable plastic surface covers keep high touch surfaces sanitary and are changed after each patient. Hospital grade EPA approved surface disinfectants are used on counter tops and other surfaces.
